What SketchUp Make 2017 is

Released in 2017, Make was the free, non-commercial desktop version of SketchUp. It runs offline on Windows and macOS, supports Ruby extensions, and has no subscription. When Trimble moved to a subscription model, Make was discontinued but never revoked; existing installers remain valid for personal, non-commercial use.

Where to download it safely

Trimble no longer promotes it, but the official installer is still hosted on their download archive. Only ever use that source. Newer SKP files will not open. Anything saved in 2018 or later must be saved down or converted, for example through downconvert-sketchup-files.com.
Modern extensions increasingly require newer Ruby versions and simply refuse to install.
macOS compatibility has ended. Make 2017 is a 32-bit-era app and does not run on recent macOS releases.
